Trading Ashes for Beauty: A Journey of Transformation

“To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” That is what Isaiah 61:3 reads. Those words are often used as a rally cry for Christians in despair. A feeling most of us can relate to. Suffering is a human condition all of us will experience at one point or another in our lives. Some of us more often than others. But, because of Jesus, our pain is not meaningless; it is deeply integrated into the story of redemption, spiritual growth, and the hope of eternal life. This course dives deep into the biblical wisdom God grants us in Isaiah 61. By learning to understand our ashes, we can reveal strength through faith, and, eventually, embrace the God-promised beauty in our futures.
